There has been no official release date so far from Sun Pictures, who have always announced the releases of their films well in advance. They are a very professional set up and unless the first copy of the film is ready for censor, they don’t normally zoom in on a release date.

Initially the grapevine was abuzz that the film will make it for the big Ramzan-Vinayaka Chaturthi weekend on September 10. Then it was said to have been postponed to September 24, but now the latest rumours making the rounds is that it has been pushed to October 8. The date is said to have significance as number ‘8’ is Shankar’s lucky number!

Trade sources say October 8 is the “latest likely release date” of the film. The post production work is going on in full swing, and due to the graphics and special effects work it’s taking time.

After getting noticed for his good performances in Thottal Poo Malarum and Magesh, Saranya, Matrum Palar both total love stories Shakthi thought it the right time to select a film with an exciting screenplay, hence he selected Aattanayagann; Ramya Nambeesan plays the female lead. The film, which is expected to hit screens on September 3, is directed by debutant Krishnaraam.

Ramar, with a slew of newcomers, a fast, action packed movie, is getting released this Friday. The audio release of this movie was held at Satyam Cinemas recently. Almost everyone, including the director, is making their debut in this movie which has some mind-blowing action sequences.

The director of the movie is Aathiraja who was a former assistant for director Dorai. Starring Vinay Datha and Anumol, this movie will be the perfect launching pad for the debutants. Vinay Datha is a very promising talent, revealed director Sivasakthi Pandian in the audio release function of Ramar. Anumol, a new face from Kerala, is the heroine.

The cinematographer is Kasi V Nathan, who has earlier worked in the unreleased movie Ayyan. Charles Melvin, a former keyboard player has scored the music while Ilayakamban and Andal Priyadarshini have penned the lyrics. Suresh Urs, well known face in the industry, will take care of the editing department.

A quick look at the trailer reveals the risky action sequences and the fast pace of the movie. It is also known that the entire movie has been shot in Cuddalore.
Ramar

Ramar is a triangular love story between two friends and a girl and the differences between the three that arise due to fidelity. The backdrop of the movie, the newcomers and the treatment of the movie will be the plus point, says the director.

With Moscowin Kaveri releasing with Ramar this Friday, it would be interesting to see who wins the race.

After a career spanning 11 years as a cinematographer, Ravi Varman is becoming a director with his first movie Moscowin Kaveri. After wielding the camera in Malayalam, Telugu and Hindi, Ravi Varman got a break in Tamil in Cheran’s Autograph. Then he worked with popular directors like Shankar in Anniyan, Gautham’s Vettaiyadu Vilaiyaadu and K.S. Ravikumar’s Dasavatharam. He will manage the lens and call the shots as well in Moscowin Kaveri.

Produced by Ramesh Babu, this movie was launched way back in 2007. It had its share of difficulties and is finally ready to weave magic on movie buffs. This film will be distributed by Aascar films. Ravi Varman maintains that though Moscowin Kaveri was started three years back, the story is so fresh that it will surely appeal to today’s generation. One look at the trailer and we can see Ravi Varman’s work at his best. Every frame and even the characters look refreshing.

The film has created quite an expectation as it was a debut for many talented youngsters including the director. This was (and is) supposed to be music director Thaman’s first movie and so it was for Samantha. Thaman, since Moscowin Kaveri, has done a few Telugu movies and Tamil films too. His work in Eeram and the recent Thillalangadi has been appreciated. Even in Moscowin Kaveri, he has given a couple of chartbusters. Samantha too has come a long way since. With VTV and Baana Kaathadi making her a popular actress, she surely adds charm to the movie. So with these youngsters already successful, it adds to the expectations of the movie.

The movie has Rahul Ravindran and Samantha in lead roles with Harshavardhan and Santhanam supporting them. Moscowin Kaveri also has director Seeman in an important role. Vairamuthu has penned the lyrics while Anthony has taken care of the editing department. With a support crew so strong, MK will focus to hit the bull’s eye.

Moscowin Kaveri will showcase love in the eyes and minds of today’s youngsters. It is about how they perceive love, their activities, style and approach. The crux of the movie is to show people that love is not always a pleasure, but it also about pain and sacrifices. Though we have heard about such a storyline before, it is the treatment of the story which will make Moscowin Kaveri a must-watch, sources from the unit reveal.

With Naan Mahaan Alla opening to full houses and a week old, will Ravi Varman’s Moscowin Kaveri, releasing on August 27, paint a rosy picture?

At last Prakash Raj finally married choreographer and his lady love Pony Verma yesterday (Aug 24) morning at a private function in Mumbai.

The couple will host a reception for their close friends from Bollywood and Kollywood yesterday night at Sahara Star hotel, near the Mumbai airport. The wedding ceremony was held as per Hindu tradition in Punjabi style.

Among those seen at the wedding was close friends of Prakash and Kollywood personalities like director Radha Mohan, cinematographer K V Guhan,writer Viji and actor Kumaravelu.
